Today as I look around our home, I am filled with ideas
to make it more cozy. In particular, our master bedroom.
The master bedroom in this apartment is much bigger than
at our first two places, so it has been feeling pretty empty and super boring.
So I have been scouring Pinterest trying to come up with ideas to make the
space feel more comfortable and relaxing.
In my search, I have learned a lot about interior design
and am excited to make some changes. Unfortunately, it’s going to have to take
place over time because the budget just isn’t really there to go crazy
redecorating our place. So right now, I will just plan and create lists of the
things we need to give the space a better vibe.
I’ve decided the first thing on my list is window
treatments. Right now we only the blinds that came installed in the apartment,
but they aren’t doing great at keeping the light out in the early morning.
Thankfully, I have curtains from my room at home that will not only help to
block out light, but also help make the room look more pulled together. All I
will have to buy for this project is the curtain rod. And I learned that they
make a new curtain rod that is great for renters because it doesn’t damage
walls, I suppose it’s similar to a tension rod, but looks like a real curtain
rod.
Next on my list is our stand. My dad and brothers built
it and gifted it to us for our wedding. (It held the popcorn bar at our
reception). Now the stand sits in our room and has some décor on it. But not
the kind of décor I want. Most of my pieces are small and don’t make much of a
statement. I would love to get some gorgeous candle sticks and a big vase
filled with flowers for it. It would be great to make it into some sort of a
focal point.
After that I would like to put a bench at the foot of our
bed. My mom gave me one that she found at a barn sale. It’s a really unique
piece and I can’t wait to repurpose it and clean it up.
Lastly, we will need an area rug. I am not a fan of
having hard floors in the bedroom and since they tend to hold the cold, we will
need a rug by the time fall and winter roll around.
I love spending time creating cozy spaces in my home. I
think it’s important to enjoy the space you live in and as soon as I am done
getting our place where I want it to go, I will be sure to share pictures!
