“It costs $0 to be a
decent human being.”
This quote was posted on
Facebook this morning by one of the people I’m friends with. It’s kind of
timely because I was just out running errands and kept catching myself being
caught off guard hearing someone being nice or polite.
Isn’t that crazy? I should
not be surprised to hear someone being nice, it should be common place.
It’s sad to me that the
mother and daughter who were yelling at each other throughout the store today
didn’t make me think twice, but the instances where I got to witness someone
being a decent person caught my eye.
There was a gentleman at
the fast food place I stopped who addressed the cashier as “Ma’am” and was
generous with his thanks for her taking his order and preparing it.
In the parking lot of our
apartment complex Josh and I got stopped by an elderly man looking for
directions. He was so grateful for us taking our time to help him out.
Something as simple as
being greeted with a smile and hello is so rare, but can make a huge
difference. Kudos to the employees I came into contact with today who made me
happy I was shopping in your store.
These simple actions I
just described took next to no effort but make a big impact! So I want to
encourage anyone who reads this to say hello to the person you pass of the
street, exchange a smile with the customer you passed in the aisle, say excuse
me when you have to go around someone, and just generally treat the people you
come into contact with in a way that you would want people to interact with
you.
